Poor Boy’s Fishing LLC offers guided fishing trips on several Northern Michigan lakes, with options for both shorter outings and longer days on the water. Each trip is designed for up to three anglers and focuses primarily on smallmouth and largemouth bass.
Rods, reels, and tackle are provided, or you are welcome to bring your own equipment.

A 4-hour trip is a great option for anglers looking for a focused morning or afternoon on the water. Your guide will use current conditions, local knowledge, and modern electronics to help locate active fish and productive areas.
6-Hour Fishing Trip
Spend more time exploring the lake and adjusting to changing conditions throughout the day. A 6-hour trip provides additional opportunities to try different areas, techniques, and depths.
Custom Longer Trips

Your premier boat experience
Choose from 4-hour or 6-hour fishing trips, with longer outings available by request. Rods, reels, and tackle are provided, so you can arrive ready to fish. Guests who prefer using their own equipment are welcome to bring it along.
Trips are available for groups of up to three anglers on Black Lake, Grand Lake, Long Lake, Hubbard Lake, and Avery Lake.

Black Lake
Trips starting at $450
Fish Black Lake aboard a fully equipped 21-foot Nitro Z21 while targeting smallmouth and largemouth bass. Depending on conditions, anglers may also encounter northern pike or walleye.
Grand Lake and Long Lake
Trips starting at $450
Explore the waters of Grand Lake or Long Lake with a guided trip shaped around the season, weather, and current fish activity.
Hubbard Lake

Poor Boy’s Fishing provides the rods, reels, and tackle needed for your charter. Guests who have favorite rods, reels, or tackle they prefer to use are also welcome to bring their own.
Each trip takes place aboard a 2020 Nitro Z21 powered by a 250 HP Mercury Pro XS four-stroke and equipped with modern Humminbird fishing technology.

Trips primarily focus on smallmouth and largemouth bass. The exact approach will depend on the lake, time of year, water conditions, and current fish activity.
While bass are the main target, northern pike and walleye may also be caught during your trip. Every day on the water is different, and your guide will work to make the most of the conditions available.
